The programmable Stereo Talking Machine Vocal Formant Filter produces creative vowel-shaping that is controlled by the player's dynamics. Nine selectable Voices deliver vowel sounds such as AH-OO and OW-EE, as well as Bassballs and wah-type dynamic filters. The Voices can be shaped with individual Attack and Decay controls while Sensitivity adjusts the envelope response. The resulting effects mimic characteristics of human speech and create sounds that are both organic and harmonically rich.

As its name implies, the Stereo Talking Machine possesses true stereo outputs as well as an effects loop. An expression pedal Input provides realtime control over filter sweeps, while nine preset locations let you store and instantly recall favorite programs. Many many filters, tones and wah effects with sweet distortion and modulation all wrapped up in a beefy metal box WITH memory for keeping your fav settings when switched off. Organic tone goodness with a soul!!!
I would have given a 10 if there was some way to protect the hard plastic knobs on top from breaking if this unit (heaven forbid) was ever dropped from high... All knobs and metal switches feel sturdy, with smooth action and with no issues...And case is hard metal.
here's the real deal... You just cant find another box that does what this box does, and it does it so well...

.I bought this pedal to replace the need for a Heil talk box that needs mike stands and a PA and this pedal does that very well. It's not quite a precise as a talk box, but it gets the job done without the headache. I found that when you mix it with an auto-wah, it gets you closer to a talk box sound, but this pedal alone gets you almost home. It does have some interesting filter sweeps and what I really like is that you can program up to 9 custom tomes and easily access them.

It's also a fairly compact pedal, so it fits nicely in a pedal board, but its switches are easy to access. Its a fun pedal to own, but you should try it before you buy it. I listened to the demo on Youtube and saw that it fit my needs, so that it s good option. The talking machine add yet another cool tone option. Ehx, keep the cool pedals coming.

.The STM is a great pedal. I use it on a 5 string bass with passive pickups and have no issues. My only complaint is that the pedal that was sent to me was obviously used. This is the second time this has happened to me. Pay new price, get used product. I hope MF gets it together and improves their Quality Assurance. Back to the pedal: in true EHX fashion a great pedal that can go subtle to extreme.
