Grover Tuners
ROTOMATICS with 18:1 GEAR RATIO (102-18 SERIES) The original Rotomatic with an improved higher ratio gearing. The 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. The finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination.

Rosewood Fretboard
The most common fretboard, Rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is richer in fundamental than Maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

EMG Active 808 Pickups
The 707 has been leading the pack of 7-string guitar pickups since its debut in 2001, and is now available for the 8-String! Before this model was introduced, existing 8-string pickups sounded muddy and dull on the low F# string, especially when trying to hit artificial and natural harmonics, but the 808 eliminates all those problems. Featuring Alnico V loaded wide aperture coils we were able to beef up that Low F# tone and at the same time provide a more responsive super tight overall sound.

Maple Neck with Carbon Fiber Rods
Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a mahogany body. Two Carbon Fiber Rods are installed next to the Truss Rod for extra stability. Stronger than an equivalent volume of steel, Carbon Fiber can supplement an adjustable truss rod to help prevent neck twisting. Formed with heat and pressure in an epoxy base, Carbon Fiber adds little weight, but adds significant stiffness.

This guitar was amazing when I started playing it felt good and has a decent sound. It has emg pickups so It is pretty much exclusive to metal, which is good for me because thats pretty much all I listen to. the frets are huge so make sure you have bigger hands. One thing I don't like about this guitar is its name. Guitar Research? Really?? Whenever My friends ask what its called I just say its a SGR. the neck is huge and kinda hurts my thumb when I play sitting down. Its kinda heavy. It stays in tune pretty well. I think this guitar it pretty good considering its my first 8 string. I recomend it to some one that really wants a good, low priced, and overall good guitar.
