These burly pickups are fueled by a powerful 18-volt preamp with three-band EQ to cut through a mix with even more chest-thumping tone and plenty of bite. Designed for comfort, the asymmetrical neck profile is slightly thicker on the bass side for easy gripping while performing fret hand gymnastics. The hand-rubbed oil finish on the back of the neck provides a fast, smooth playing feel with effortless position changes while Posiflex™ graphite support rods run the length of the neck, adding stability to the neck and resisting temperature- and humidity-induced warping. This American Elite Dimension 5-string bass is everything I was hoping it would be. The tone is amazing, the playability is excellent and its incredible, and it's extremely versatile. It's got killer looks, solid electronics and great hardware. The pickups are stellar. The oiled neck feels so smooth; it's comfortable to play for hours. However, the second fret was nearly dead and the bass needed an extensive setup right out of the box. I don't mind doing certain maintenance but it did need a stop off at my local shop to get it to where it should be, which was quite a bummer. Still, I would absolutely recommend this bass. my issue was probably a fluke.
