Best P-Bass I;ve ever owned and I had them all from the 70's models to the Japanese to the U.S.A to the mexican. This Bass exceeds in sound quality and looks. My favorite feature are the reversed tuning pegs.I could do away w/the gold anodized p-guard for a white one but for now it's ok.The sound is what's most important.I play it through a Fender bassman 250/210 combo(Another nice product)and kiks proverbial butt!Fender '50s Precision Bass 2-Color Sunburst Maple Fretboard
.An outstanding instrument, one of two P-basses I've settled in with after literally decades of hopping around with one bass after another. Beautifully solid instrument, great intonation, and killer deep tones, plus nice but fat highs. Only complaint is the tuners, which were very sloppy at the outset, very approximate instead of being precise, though they have settled in a bit after a year or so--the more you use them, the quicker they seem to settle in. Provided you're OK with fairly wide string spacing (I am), this is a beautiful, super high quality instrument, with unparalled tone. Same as other reviewers, I say Viva Mexico; this is as good a Fender bass as I'll ever want or need, better than many of the American versions I've played, both tone, precise tolerances on neck & pickup, finish, neck (especially!), and general workmanship.

.After going through several P-basses, this is the one I have been looking for. Excellent craftsmanship, great fit, finish, feel and tone. If you are looking for a real Fender P-bass, start with this one, you'll save yourself a lot of searching.

.This is a no frills "meat and potato" P-Bass but built superbly and great sounding --- no mods needed here , can't beat it for the price . I also have a Vintage '64 Jazz Bass and a Custom Shop Vintage Jazz which I'm a little more protective of so the Precision is the one I carry into bars and other venues .

I have had my Fender '50s Precision Bass for about a month now and love love love this bass I have two US P-basses I didn't think I could ever take there place ... and It did . you have to try it out for yourself if you like the Vintage Vibe and sound but can't afford the real thing this is the bass for you .Fender '50s Precision Bass 2-Color Sunburst Maple Fretboard
.My '50s P Bass just arrived. The neck shape is wide and medium deep. The piece of maple has alot of grain character and a vintage amber tint to the thick poly finish. The body is medium-light in weight with a really nice glossy poly finish in which I can find no flaws. The stock hardware is sturdy and well installed. The reverse vintage tuners will take a minute to get used to I think but they are solid and tight. My only real gripe is the pickup. It sounds just like a P Bass should but it was a little cock-eyed coming right out of the box. I own a screwdriver so no big deal. Otherwise the factory set up is great; straight neck, low action, good intonation. The bass was almost still in tune. I don't think "for the money" should even need to be mentioned. This is a good sounding, good playing, good looking, well made traditional P Bass that just happens to be very reasonably priced. Don't be afraid of the "Made in Mexico" either. The '50s P Bass is a solid 4.5 out of 5.

.I really didn't believe this bass could even get close to my 70's American Precision, close, it blew it away, this is unquestionably the best Precision bass I have ever played

.Great Bass. I've been playing professionally since I was 14 years old and let's say I'm mildly seasoned. I started with P basses back in 74... Oops! Any way, I love these basses. They're on par with my 74, and 78, and I don't have to worry about somebody ripping a vintage bass at gigs. I got 2 of these actually. First one I bought in like 93-94 when they were made in Japan instead of Mexico, I put Quarter Pounders in it but it wasn't much of a difference. It didn't NEED pick ups, but you know. Quality, fit and finish was top notch on both. I guess my only gripe if I had one is the fact it comes with a gig bag instead of a case (Who started this s#$t) but since the bass is so reasonably priced, you should be able to buy a nice (Fender) case with some of the cash you saved. Also, when recording, I rarely (never) use this bass. Preferring an old Jazz bass. But live, the P Bass is the one. I highly suggest and recommend it. Buying the case and the bass.

.I started out playing Fender Precision Basses about 7 years ago. I've tried Gibson, Hofner, Music Man, and everything in between. I always came back to the goold old Precision bass. Right now, I own an old Squier Precision, an '01 Standard Precision (which I outfitted with Duncan humbuckers), an '87 Jazz, and the new 50's Precision. The 50's Precision is far and away the best bass I've ever tried. Its neck is extremely comfortable, despite being thicker than today's Standard Precision neck (and far wider than the Jazz neck). Its softened D-shape relaxes the fingers and makes reaching the frets exremely easy. I'm only 5'6", and I have extremely tiny hands. Take my tiny-fingered word for it when I say this bass's neck is lightning-fast! The finished maple makes playing smoother than on today's satin-finish necks and allows for a brighter, punchier sounds similar to a Jazz Bass. But don't worry--the bottom-end, resonant characteristic P-Bass tone comes through loud and clear. The result is a far more articulate (but no less warm) tone. Best of both worlds! Moreover, the added weight of the neck counteracts the body's weight, allowing for a more natural position when playing. The tuning machines are vintage-style and extremely tight (though they're not post-tapered). It's very difficult to knock this baby out of tune. The vintage-style pickups give a "thump" that modern pickups, even the Duncan SPB-3s, don't match. As far as craftsmanship, this is as good as any American-made I've ever played. The laquer is perfect, the body is beautiful and resonant. It sports Fender's old "spaghetti" style logo. It fits the '57 Precision's profile perfectly (even has a shallower "comfort curve"!). The gold anodized pickguard, the sunburst finish... it's my perfect bass. And I didn't have to spend thousands of dollars! If you're considering buying a Precision, BUY THIS ONE. You won't be disappointed. The only changes I made were adding a vintage "ash-tray" bridge cover, strap-locks and a thumb-rest. You might want to tweak the depth of the pickups and the action at the bridge. In my opinion, this bass guitar is absolutely perfect... eleven out of ten.

.When I bought this guitar I did not expect it to be like the one I had twenty years ago, but was I shocked when I started playing this axe. It felt like an old friend had come home. This is the one I play when I hit the stage, forget about the bass with the battery, no worry about losing power in the middle of a proformance. The quaility on this bass was execellent, made in mexico or not. Don't hesitate to buy one of these if you are a little short on cash. I have the sunburst with gold metal pickguard, beautiful guitar. Great player and a nice sound.
