So many years, so many brand and types of strings. After the Elixirs, the SPs, the Cleartones, I decided I wanted strings that sounded like they did back in the 60-70s. These are the ones. I use them on my Martin D35 and my Gibson J50 and they deliver that thumping bass that is lacking in these coated strings -- that do last, but with no real tone.... These were my choice when I bought my first Martin D28 in 1972, and they are my choice now.Martin M2100 Marquis Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings

For the money it is my experience that these are the best acoustic guitar strings Martin sells. My D-18 and Takamine sound their best with these installed. The full spectrum of my instruments can be heard with high, mids and lows ringing out to full potential. While fresh strings always sound the best to me, I can go two full performances without changing strings. After trying various others I now only use the Martin Marquis M2100. It's a great feeling to have confidence that your strings will not break during a performance. When using these I have never experienced a broken string at any time during a recording, rehearsal or performance. I really like the felt winding that protects the guitar's bridge too.Martin M2100 Marquis Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings
.These strings can't be beat. I've used them for years on my 1965 Gibson Country Western. I also use them on my Ovation Elite and they sound fantastic. These strings do not break and retainthat new sting sound for a long time. I strongly suggest that you give them a try. You can't go wrong.

.Different strings will have different characteristics. Any time I try a new brand I always compare them to these. They are not the work horse that some others are - they will not last quite as long as some other brands, but they have the BEST 'fresh tone' of any phosphorus bronze I've ever tried. If you want a nice bright ring, use these strings. If you want something that will last longer, try another brand.

.I probably wouldn't bother reviewing these strings, but since MF sent me an email asking for a review, I guess I'll do my part.
Actually, that makes a good point about these strings. They're pretty much unremarkable.
They sound okay, but there's not any special tone or projection from them. They play okay, but they're not especially smooth or fast or easy. They're decent strings.
It's nice that they have the silk winding near the bridge end to (maybe) protect the wood from being scratched, but honestly, I've never had any issue with my guitar being damaged by other strings, so...
The price point is nice, and these Marquis strings are definitely playable, but if you're looking for strings that actually have a *personality*, you can find it elsewhere.
I've been performing an experiment since I got my newest guitar about a year ago(I won't brag, but it's a nice guitar!) to find out what strings perform the best for me and my instrument. I've tried many, many sets of strings, and so far, my faves are the old standby, Martin SP Light gauge MSP4100. I also like the Martin FX Flexible Core strings for their playability, but I do find the sound of those is a bit lacking (trade off for the flexibility, I suppose) and they are also somewhat inconsistent between sets.
But not to get off-topic. :)
Of course, strings choice is as personal a thing as musical style, and preferred instrument...so give them a try, maybe you'll think they're awesome!
But if you're looking for suggestions, try the other two strings I mentioned and see what you think!
Thanks for reading!

.Much better than the stock strings that came with my Rogue rd80.

.I have been using these strings for many years. I've tried almost every other brand that I can think of and none are any better than the Martin Maquis. The sound is very balanced and strong. And they sound just as good on any brand of instrument that I have tried them on.

.Great low cost strings

.If your instrument requires light gauge strings, these are a great value

.I love these strings. I especially love the silk ends of these strings. They keep my bridge from getting chewed up. Tone is very pleasant and projects very well. These strings also wear very well, the tone becomes warmer but not dull. The sustain remains intact as these get more worn in too. Hands down the best strings you can get for your acoustic, in my opinion.
