Overall, these are nice strings...I like the playability and crisp tone. The only negative is that you have to change them more frequently. That's a good trade-off, though.I've been using the Marin M170's for about six years now and, no matter how I try, I can't find another string that works as well for acoustic guitar. They are bright, "phat", responsive, and have good overall tone. The only negative that I've found is that you have to change them a little more frequently; but at the price, that's not too painful.

.I've used all types of strings over the years, and while things like elixers sound amazing, these are great at a fraction of the price. You can afford to change these strings alot more frequently! anyway, they are extremely bright and comfortable, pick em up and try em out!

.I buy these strings all the time, i own 5 acoustic guitars so having plenty of strings on hand that I can afford is a must. Great value, very good strings
Martin M170 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings
.I love extra light strings for acoustic guitar, and Martin extra light M170 strings are a great value.
I practice on electric quite a bit because it's pretty quiet without an amp (so I can practice while watching TV for example), and the standard 9-42 gauge Super Slinky strings are easy to manipulate. Regular light acoustic strings feel like suspension bridge cables to me and are extremely hard to press - plus they put more pressure on my guitar's bridge and neck.
Even these Martin M170 strings aren't as light as the ones that came on my El Cheapo Silvertone beginner's acoustic, but they're the lightest I've been able to find and the price makes them a very good value.
My new Zager acoustic came with the same gauge strings as the M170 and it is very easy to play and has great sound with plenty of volume. So you don't need heavier strings to get volume.

.These strings wont wipe out the bank. They feel great and have beautiful sound.
I have used these style strings for years. And I love them.

.These are really my favorite strings.I have tried several different brands most costing more and yet I keep coming back to Martin extra light.
Martin M170 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings
.I like these strings. They have a nice bottom end and are not too bright like the phosphor bronze. I always put on a new set before I record acoustic guitar. I use the lighter gauge for live shows and practicing. I use the medium gauge for recording. The heavier gauge strings sound fatter for recording. I wished their magic tone lasted longer. But like most acoustic strings, after a few days, they start to lose that new magic. Always put on new strings before you record.

.I play a lot of outside gigs by the Gulf of Mexico and the salty ocean breeze air really takes a toll on any brand of strings. I've tried the more expensive strings but no matter what, after a couple of gigs I need to change them out. For inside gigs, they seem to last about twice as long. I'm extremely happy with these Martin Strings and would highly recommend them to anyone that wants to sound good all the time without breaking the piggy bank. I also used these same strings on each of my songs on my JERRY CHIAPPETTA, JR., CHANGING TIMES CD.

.Very good value & quality
Martin M170 80/20 Bronze Extra Light Acoustic Guitar Strings
.These are the strings that originally came on my 2000 Martin Backpacker guitar. I tried some other extra light strings but plan to keep using these on this particular guitar. They sound pretty good on this little guitar which sometimes sounds like a banjo. Low tension makes them easy to play too.
